CW Pipewise Ltd recently completed specialist pipeline installation works at the Thames Water STW site in Chertsey on behalf of RMC.
The project involved the installation and commissioning of new 180mm MDPE pipework, including full butt fusion welding, testing, and connection into the existing live network.
Our team installed the new 180mm pipeline, which was fusion welded, cut, and prepared for testing before undergoing independent pressure testing to 16 millibars, followed by full chlorination and commissioning procedures to ensure compliance with site and water authority standards.
Once the new line was successfully tested, we carried out the controlled shutdown and squeeze-off of the existing 225mm MDPE SDR11 main, which was operating at approximately 9 bar pressure. The existing supply was safely isolated to allow the new infrastructure to be connected.
The new 180mm MDPE pipeline was then connected to the existing 225mm main using an equal tee with a reduction back to 180mm, completing the integration of the new section into the live network.
Following final connections, the system was re-pressurised and commissioned, confirming full operational performance of the newly installed pipeline.
This project highlights CW Pipewise Ltd’s capability in delivering specialist MDPE fusion welding, live network integration, and high-pressure pipeline works within operational utility environments.
